Imagine gorgeous, golden fried chicken tossed with a general tao sauce that is sweet, sour, spicy and savoury! The sauce features tomato and vinegar with chilli bean paste that caramelizes and glazes onto the crispy chicken, this is a dish so delicious you’ll be looking for seconds (and thirds).

Hong Shing is known for taking classic Chinese American cuisine and making it incredible. They’ve done exactly that with this fan-favourite, and with SPATULA’s help, you can now enjoy this iconic, bright red dish in the comfort of your own home.

Ingredients: Chicken thigh, White rice, Green peppers, Red onion, Sugars (granulated sugar), White vinegar, Vegetable Oil, Ketchup (water, tomato paste or tomatoes, glucose-fructose, corn syrup, distilled vinegar, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, seasoning), Hoisin sauce (sugar, water, soybeans, salt, sweet potato, modified corn starch, sesame seeds, garlic, wheat flour, chili peppers, spices, colours (caramel, allura red), acetic acid), Sesame seeds, Water, Garlic powder, Chilli bean paste (red chilli, broad bean, edible salt, wheat flour, rapeseed oil, potassium sorbate), Cornstarch, Egg, Salt, Allura red colour.

Cooking Instructions

  1. In a large non-stick pan, add the contents of both pouches into the pan. Add ⅓ cup of water.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 8-10 min stirring occasionally until warmed through and the sauce coats the chicken and vegetables.
  3. Meanwhile, in a second large non-stick pan, add the rice with 3-5 tbsp of water and cook over medium heat for 4-5 min, stirring often until the rice is warmed through.
  4. Plate the chicken alongside the rice and vegetables and garnish with the roasted sesame seeds. Enjoy!
